For those that might be unfamiliar with Interapt, here’s a little background so you know what you’re getting yourself into.
Founded in 2011, Interapt is a software development and technology services firm headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky. In its early stages, the company focused on mobile and web application development, specializing in front-end development and design.
We built apps for companies in the healthcare, entertainment, media, and energy industries, to name a few. Our apps support companies by doing things like improving corporate communication, increasing employee engagement, ensuring compliance standards are met, and digitizing outdated workflows.
For example, we worked with a national healthcare provider to create a HIPAA-compliant communications platform complete with a centralized employee directory. This platform greatly reduced the risk of potential violations, enabled secure transfer of private information and data, and improved communication with remote employees. On another project, we worked with a statewide power cooperative to create a web app detailing utilities utilization within the region. Currently we’re working with a multinational manufacturer to build connected apps for their smart home appliances.
We continue to build impactful applications, but as the company has matured we have expanded our capabilities to include UX and design, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), custom enterprise software development, IT systems support, and digital transformation consulting.
Like most tech companies across the country, we struggled to fill open positions as we grew. In fact data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that there will be 1.3 million job openings in the IT industry by 2026.
To solve this problem, we took an innovative approach to discovering and recruiting new talent — we looked in our own backyard for the next wave of talented tech professionals. Instead of recruiting for top tier talent at Stanford, MIT, and other prestigious institutions, Interapt piloted scholarship-based ($25,000/student) training programs to upskill unemployed, underemployed, and underserved members of our communities.

Our first programs were hosted in rural Kentucky and Atlanta, where we graduated 61 individuals. Many of our graduates had been living paycheck to paycheck, but they now had the economic freedom and stability to support their families.
Today Interapt partners with General Assembly, a pioneer in education and career transformation. We recently completed our first training program together in Louisville, graduating 20 individuals who are now entering the Louisville tech ecosystem.
We believe that many people have the drive, aptitude, and grit to learn a new skill set and change careers. They simply need an opportunity to grow and flourish.
As we continue to move forward, this mission will always form the heart and soul of Interapt.
